Winter in Helsinki is doubtlessly an impressive experience. The city is relatively easy to navigate. The route I chose started at the center near Erottaja. From there I was passing the Swedish Theater and ran along Aleksanterinkatu, the main shopping street. Unioninkatu led me via the impressive cathedral to the seaside. If you take the way around the city along the shore, you first come along the impressive harbors of the city followed by the noble Kaivopisto park and neighbourhood with many embassies and villas. Then you get an impression of some industrial areas of the city. Later you might cross Hietaniemen hautausmaa, the biggest cemetery of the city. Sibelius Park is another well known oasis of the city. A few minutes later you arrive at the Olympic Stadium, with the runners statue at the front of it. The way back I walked over a frozen lake, I enjoyed very much. In the evening I went to an ice sculpturing event at the zoo, I was very impressed by.
